This course is intended for law enforcement officers, computer forensic examiners, corporate and private investigators, and network security personnel. Participants may have minimal computer skills and may be new to the field of mobile phone forensics. Ideally, students should own or have access to EnCase® Forensic Edition and the EnCase® Neutrino™ Mobile Phone Acquisition device. This hands-on course addresses the rapidly increasing need for mobile phone seizure and analysis. Mobile devices are an integral part of an ever-increasing number of investigations, and the need to acquire evidence from mobile devices has created new and complex challenges for investigators. Students will learn the components of the EnCase Neutrino mobile phone acquisition device and gain an understanding of the proper handling procedures for mobile phones from the initial seizure to acquisition. During the course the students will progress through the analysis of cell phone artifacts utilizing the EnCase Neutrino mobile phone acquisition device and EnCase® Forensic. The following are some of the topics covered during this TWO-day introductory course:

• Participants will be give an overview of mobile phone networks
• Students will learn to identify mobile phones
• Students will learn proper seizure techniques
• Students will learn to use WAVESHIELD™ signal blocker
• Students will receive an overview of mobile phone data storage
• Students will acquire and examine SIM cards
• Students will examine EnCase® Neutrino™ Mobile Phone Acquisition Device components
• Students will acquire data from mobile devices
• Students will examine the data that they have acquired
• Students will be given an overview of legal concerns
• Students will learn to report their findings
